Cross updates? I think I'll be too lazy, but maybe it'll be good practice (it'll help me stay...literate).
My lack of small talk skill is rather horrific. How do some people just keep going? Usually it's "So how do you know Person A?", blah blah "It's quite a nice view up here", "Where'd you go to school?", and then there's awkward silence and hopefully by then, I'd have found a drink to keep myself busy sipping frantically. I think during O-Week, I actually asked whoever I was talking to if they liked anime. Which actually worked in one instance on Saturday night. It wasn't a Gai-sensei/Rock Lee "SPRINGTIME OF YOUTH!" moment, but we did talk about a couple of series.
It's also rather startling how many people loathe their max lucrative jobs in a particular industry, yet have the willpower to stay put, and to not turn into the wibbling mess that I become when a colleague crosses me at work. Or is it not so surprising? (I never knew how fond I was of these semi-rhetorical questions, but they're not especially rhetorical as someone can just post a comment.)
Is it the money? A legit (and useful) reason. Someone remarked that their interview answer to the "Why this job" question was 'the steep learning curve' and 'the control I'd have over my own career' or something. Hwah. What was MY interview response, my heartrending (almost typed 'heart ending', which sounds about right) story of freshfaced youthful ambition?
| I was walking around City Super yesterday, it's Back-To-School sales time. Nostalgia!! Backpacks have gotten a lot sleeker looking. I still miss my old bag, grotty as it was, but by the power of tippex and the genius of comics, the bag made me a superstar. Haha well, it certainly helped with the small talk during O-Week in Chicago.
A lot of notebooks I really wanted to own. But office-life, how it stifles! Uh, individualism? Carrying brightly colored notebooks? Most people use the 'company notebook', which I don't have anyway. I guess Muji stuff works, but I wanted to use the cover of my CIS diary, turn it into my personal scheduling notebook thingy. My mom threw a fit when she saw me trying to fit in regular lined paper into the diary. I guess Gundam doesn't particularly mesh well here?
I miss going into class with new stationary. Fresh pads of ACE-quality lined paper. Lending people paper, and that really clean zipping sound of tearing paper. Perfectly shaped erasers. Everyone pulling out lead at once, different sorts of mechanical pencils (almost typed 'persons'). Colored pens! Doodling in class.
I guess I can still doodle in meetings, but it's hard not to crack when the boss is giving you dirty looks.
Damn kiddies, they better treasure their stationary-toting days. I have this image where people are sitting around CIS corridors, with iPhones. But I will believe! It'll still boil down to stationary.
Pretty cool piece: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/courtney-e-martin-/the-carrie-bradshaw-effec_b_109523.html
And now I finally know what a codpiece was. I thought it was a hat.

| China's ultimate Olympics poster boy, Liu Xiang, pulled out of his event yesterday. Man, you should see the online discussion boards, comments wavering from slightly freaky support, to "Liu Xiang, you're not a man! I HATE YOU".
Poor guy. His competitors must be all be whooping with glee (inwardly, I suppose).
On Eyeshield 21 terms, CIS could've used a football team. Filled with misfits and geniuses who only find out they're geniuses (one-trick ponies to an extent, but so lovable) later. Early morning training regiments, locker room pep talks, whyyyyyy didn't I join a school sports team??
Could we start one now? Play in some random amateur league, fit in practices during the weekends and stuff. Basketball? The court of dreams! Anyone interested? Someone help satisfy my Shounen Jump sports-themed fervor.
Watched a bit of this high jump event, with the Russian girl who won the gold. Her abs are crazy. How does one get such crazy abs?
| 告白 - FUNKY MONKEY BABYS
Air quality's pretty much down the drain today, but it was cheery and spirit-soothing when I stepped out of my front door this morning. There's an open area, and I cursed it during June when the rain nearly inundated everything
I feel like finishing this later.

| " 'She wants something to love, I think,' said the cat.
'Something that isn't her. She might want something to eat as well. It's hard to tell with creatures like that.' "

Living vicariously through manga/anime?
Antique Bakery anime: First 2 eps. Hmm, might just stick with this one.
Angel Densetsu manga: Kitano-kun! Be my friend! "This danger is explosive!"
I need subbed episodes of Bokura no Ongaku!
I haaate passively eavesdropping on phone conversations, especially when the person insists on walking right beside you.
God of War 2: I just need a venue!
I traded Pokemon with my cousin. Hello, Levels 50s. He didn't give me any Legendaries, but ah well, can't bleed him dry right.
I miss summer holidays.
And after many years of secret ownership, I read Thérèse Raquin. Definitely not a feel-good read.
Picked up JtHM again. Still good.
